Q. How does the pool and spa system work?

The pool and Spa are available for guests for at least one hour per day on a sole cottage use basis. There are seven one hour slots between 9am & 12pm and 2pm & 6pm (7pm on Fridays). There are five cottages and seven one hour slots so there is flexibility and extra sessions available. Seven days prior to your arrival you will receive an email with a link through to a booking app so you can choose sessions. We ask guests to not book the same slot each day to give everyone flexibility and to only book one hour a day prior to arrival. The extra slots can be booked once you arrive depending on demand.  Guests who have not been here before are often concerned they will be restricted and need to ensure they book ahead early. With some understanding and flexibility the feedback is that the system is working very well and guests get plenty of opportunity to have the facilities all to themselves, even if they wait until they arrive to book slots. If you do not wish to book slots prior to your arrival these can be arranged for you once you’re here.

Q. Where is my key, and what if I do not arrive till midnight?

You will receive an email prior to your arrival informing you where to find your key, however we always try to meet you on your check-in. For guests arriving late, we will meet you the next morning.

Q. What time is check-in and check-out?

Check-in time is currently 3pm and check out at 10am. .

Q. Can we get our supermarket food shopping delivered, and what happens if it turns up and I am delayed in traffic?

Yes, you can arrange supermarket deliveries, but please ensure delivery is not booked before the check-in time of 3pm. If the delivery is at a reasonable time, we are always happy to receive your order and place things in the freezer and fridge for you.

Q. Do we need to bring towels or robes?

The cottages are supplied with bath towels and robes for use in the cottage and Spa. Spa towels are provided within the pool building to use poolside and in the Sauna.

Q. How far is the nearest pub?

The Handsome Brewery is a 15-minute walk or 2-minute drive away. Here you will find unique beers to drink by the riverbank.

The Eagle and Child Pub is located 2 miles away in Staveley, it has a wonderfully traditional atmosphere and serves a great roast.

Q. Can we get take-away food delivered?

Due to the secluded nature of Mirefoot only a few companies will deliver. These include DOMINOES pizza, EASTERN BALTI. We can advise on the best take-aways and restaurants for every occasion.

Q. Do you have hypoallergenic pillows?

Yes, all pillows are hypoallergenic, and pillows and duvets are synthetically filled.

Q. Is there a DVD player?

We do not have DVD players, but cottages are equipped with Smart TVs to access Netflix etc.

Q. Can I bring a dog?

We love dogs here at Mirefoot, and we know they are a part of the family. We allow dogs in three of the cottages: Twitchers, Shepherd’s View and Kirkstone. We ask they are always kept on a lead in the garden; however we have a field opposite Mirefoot where dogs can run off the lead. Please bear in mind we are in a rural area and farmers are sensitive to dogs in the fields where they keep livestock – Dogs should be kept on leads when walking through farmland.

Q. Do we have a baby/toddler, do you have a crib or highchair?

Yes, we can supply travel cots and highchairs on request. However, due to safety regulations we do not supply sheets or bedding for the travel cots. Please bring your own.

Please note if your little one is speedy on their feet or likes being mischievous every now and then, we suggest you stay in Kirkstone or Twitchers as they are on one floor with minimal steps, in case they get away from you.

Q. Can I take my infant swimming?

Yes, you can take your baby into the swimming pool – babies must wear swim nappies and a neoprene nappy cover.

Q. We are a group of 5 adults, can we book a cottages?

Our cottages are designed for 2 to 4 people plus an infant, we will not accommodate additional guests in any cottages.

Q. We have a 12 year old can they go on a put-up bed in a one bedroom property if we bring one?

We only allow the number of guests as there are beds in our cottages and do not allow additional beds. The exception is a travel cot in one-bedroom properties.

Q. I find it difficult getting about, which is the best property for me?

We have a detailed access statement on our website HERE. If stairs are an issue, then Twitchers and Kirkstone are mainly on ground level (though not fully compatible for disabled needs).  The spa has easy access with gentle slopes leading to it and handrails into the swimming pool and Jacuzzi.

Q. In the event I must cancel my booking, can I get a refund?

Yes, depending on the notice period of your cancellation. If you cancel more than 8 weeks prior to your booking you will get a full refund. Please read our terms and conditions here. We recommend guests take out adequate travel insurance.

Q. What are the opening hours of the Spa and gym?

The Spa and Gym are open between 9.00am till 12pm and 2.00pm to 6. 00pm.

Q. What essentials do you provide in the cottages?

We supply shower gel, shampoo, handwash, washing-up liquid, dishwasher tablets, laundry tablets, oven gloves, bath towels, tea towels, toilet rolls, kitchen roll, tin foil, clingfilm, tea bags and ground coffee, as well as some luxury extras in your welcome pack. Logs and firelighters are provided in cottages with wood burning stoves.
