Coniston Water Festival
Consiton Water Festival

Set high in the heart of the English Lake District lies Coniston Water, ‘long streaked’ in a beautiful wooded fertile vale; with an abundance of wildlife such as red squirrels and wild deer.

To the north tower the majestic Coniston fells. Underneath the highest, Coniston Old Man, amongst cascading mountain streams, sits Coniston Village. The area abounds with spectacular waterfalls in Coppermines Valley and outlying tarns including the famous Tarn Hows.

The Coniston Water Festival was instituted in the later half of the 19th century has continued with some breaks to the present day.

The festival is a week long series of events centered on Coniston Water and the valley, with a boat dressing and water parade as one of the centre pieces of the festival. This years Festival will take the best and most successful elements of old and add some new events centered on creativity and enjoyment.

Above all, it celebrates Coniston Water and the people who live in its locality. The Festival will be a fusion of the arts, sport, food and a celebration of local enterprise, focused on the water and the unique aspects of water related culture and sport.
